How Does a 3 Team Single Elimination Bracket Work?

A 3 team single elimination bracket uses a bye system. Heres how it works:

Semifinal Final
───────── ─────

Team 1 (BYE - Auto Advance) ┐
                              │
                              ├── Team 1 (Win)
                              │
Team 2 (Win) ┐ │
                          ├───┘
Team 3 (Lose) ┘

Result: Team 1 becomes the Champion

What is a Bye? A bye means one team automatically advances to the next round without playing. In a 3-team bracket, one team (usually the top seed) gets a bye to the final.

Round 1 - Semifinal: Two teams (Team 2 vs Team 3) compete in the semifinal. The winner advances to face the team with the bye (Team 1). The loser is eliminated.

Round 2 - Final: The semifinal winner faces the team that received the bye. In this example, Team 1 defeats Team 2 to become champion.

Total Matches: A 3 team bracket requires only 2 matches total (1 semifinal + 1 final), making it the quickest tournament format for 3 participants.
